What is an Independent College Consultant?
An Independent College Consultant or private college counselor helps high school students and their families navigate the confusion of the college process. We provide one-on-one, personalized attention to each student's needs. College Trek Consulting offers professional guidance to our students to find a college match, guide our students through the application process, and help families with admissions and their students' decisions. We don't replace the high school counselor, but work with them and the student to be successful in high school and with the college search.
As an IEC, I visit colleges extensively to get the vibe and see the culture of a school. I speak with the admissions team as well as different departments to gather all the information I can to share with my students. Typically a private college counselor or independent college consultant will visit at least 20 schools or more a year. Professional development is also part of my learning. IECA offers conferences as well as other professional organizations that I attend to keep my fingers on the pulse of what is happening in higher education. All of this enables College Trek Consulting to guide our families down the college admissions path with extensive knowledge of a variety of schools.
